Funeral day.

Three weeks of trying to get everyone to agree on something and an incredible amount of help from everyone results in a perfect funeral and wake. All this time I’d been pushing on with my eyes closed, assuming that everything was going to hell, but it all turned out all right. I don’t need to write much about it here because I know I’ll remember it always. It feels unfair that I don’t have a mother anymore, but as everyone keeps telling me, life goes on.

The funeral is beautiful, simple, austere, very sad. The wake is a big party. She was a tremendous person, with more friends than anyone else I know. We keep getting congratulations (engagement) and condolences at the same time. Everyone wants to know if we’re moving into mother’s big house. We say we’ll make a go of it.
