Testify strongly, brother
The really amusing thing about this is that on absolutely any scale that progressives choose to name (”gay rights”, “gender equality”, “openness to Darwinism”, “freedom of expression”, etc.), Islam is provably about 1,000 times worse than the absolute worst thing that even a lunatic believes about either fundamentalism or Catholicism.
I can no longer doubt Lawrence Auster
when he writes that when leftists advocate these things in West, they
are really motivated by something other than liberty or female
equality. This is absolutely clear from the fact that leftists and
feminists don't oppose Muslim immigration here or make any serious
demands of implementing these freedoms in the third world. Whenever
some feminist complains that women in third world are badly oppressed,
she is most definitely not saying that our culture was in any way
better than their or (oh dear god no) that we should use force to
liberate these oppressed women. She simply wants the western men pay her
tribute and compensation for this injustice, since she has the same
genitals as the victim and western men have the same genitals as the
oppressor, making her morally superior.
And of course, there is
the little chestnut that I must have already mentioned a million times:
when a white Christian man says that gay marriage is not a 100%
positive thing, he is a disgusting subhuman bigot who makes the
progressive ashamed to even belong to the same species with him, but
when the Muslim culture, instead of debating whether gays should be
allowed to marry debates whether gays should be allowed to live,
the progressives just gush how we must understand and accept this
exciting alternative culture instead of condemning it and being all
judgemental. This blatant hypocrisy reveals pretty much everything we
need to know about the real motivations of leftists.
On the other side of the fence, Vox Day writes in "More free speech fakers":
It's become inarguably obvious that these secular champions of the 1st Amendment are pansy paper tigers. They're bold and brave enough when attacking a religion that instructs followers to turn the other cheek, but they suddenly find deep sensitivity and respect when a religion of the sword is involved.
Indeed. It's too bad that "Carnival of Godless", in which my postings have been included a few times, has already been assigned far into future. It would be interesting to see an edition of this carnival in which the topic was Islam. This carnival might include not only abstract proofs why that particular religion is false (just modify your classic arguments against Christianity a little wherever appropriate), but also practical observations about how backwards, mockable, stupid, repressive and just plain old inferior that religion is in every respect compared to atheism. You know, there is absolutely nothing here that us atheists haven't expressed a thousands times towards Christianity, and in this case, making these arguments would be as trivially easy as shooting fish in a barrel. As it would be to add a generous helping of mockery and laughter on the side. But you know, for some reason I just don't expect to ever see such an edition of this carnival during my lifetime.
