Earth or Pupulon?

First, I see in the news that certain people are protesting the annual seal clubbing that started up north. I am sure that these people have good reasons for their belief that killing seals is wrong, since a cynic might think that they oppose killing seals simply because these seals look so darn cute, while they happily accept killing other kinds of animals that are not so cute. I am sure that somewhere there is a consistent set of objective rules that determines which animals man is allowed to kill and use for food and clothing, but I have never seen such rules myself. Could somebody helpfully point me to the right direction?

Second, once we accept the idea is that the society must guarantee its each individual member some bottom standard of living (I don't, but many other people do), there are many ways to implement such wealth redistribution from those above the line to those are below it. However, by far the most efficient and fairest way is the guaranteed minimum income. In "Moving Ground", I see that Charles Murray now advocates essentially this. Of course, in the 90's Murray committed the unpardonable sin of claiming that IQ and races exist, IQ is important in how your life turns out, and that different races vary in IQ. Therefore, everything that he says is by definition wrong and evil. For this reason, I am certain that the next few days will offer us a perfect demonstration of the idiotic arguments that would be used against the guaranteed minimum income system. Let's sit back and enjoy the show.
