Lefties often let the mask slip like this. However even when you point it out to them right when it happens they are nonplussed. I think they consider hating certain politically objectionable ethnic groups to be a kind of privilege they acquire by virtue of giving lip service to the lower class.

It's rather worse than you think. I'm sure the obesity figures are skewed by the large populations of: (wait for it) blacks in the South. They tend to be a little on the zaftig side. And good for Canada, stealing some Jap jobs from the Great Satan.

A major factor behind Toyota's decision to locate its new plant in Canada was the high cost of providing employee health insurance in the United States. Even with higher overall taxes Canada's single-payer system would save the company money.

I mean, you yourself often remark shortcomings of liberals, conservatives, libertarians and the greens alike. You're not the only one entitled to a unique, non-stereotypical worldview.

To demonstrate cognitive/behavioral dissonance of the author you're referring to you must show that he himself has earlier discredited importance of IQ and supported fat acceptance, or something similar.

In theory I suppose, but in practice leftists tend to be more tolerant of (or less judgmental toward) disfunctional behavoir than are conservatives. "Personal responsibility" is mainly a conservative buzzword.

Support for social insurance programs is a mainstream-not leftist-position. Recall that the father of social security programs was Otto von Bismarck, hardly a leftist. You may be overly infuluenced by fringe libertarian arguments. I hope you are not making an oblique reference to the very modest reform proposed by Bush that, nonetheless, received very little support and went nowhere.

Alabama is about 26% black. If any of you have any real-world experience in manufacturing, let me give you a little secret. Firing someone who is black and especially a black female opens you up to HUGE legal costs. The NAACP, Equal Rights Commission, Urban league, et al, come running to their rescue.

I remember a case of a black female WHO WAS CAUGHT SLEEPING caused a court case. Guess what? She got her job back becuase her supervisor violated her rights by "harrassing her" when he took her picture with a camera instead of getting the plant's safety and security personnel to do it. Got her job back with back pay. Opening a factory in Alabama means that in real world terms, about 30-35% of that factory would be black. 80-90% of black employees in my experience work very hard. However, there is about 5% of a hardcore "stick-it-to-the-man, America-owes-us-somethin'-Reverend-Jackson-lovin'" portion that is ALWAYS looking for ways to do as little as possible. They hurt morale of everyone around as they are seen as goofing off and getting away with it. Superivisor's put these people "at the front" of an assembly line if they are putting on a specific part where the 3 or 4 workers behind them can catch what they miss. Guess waht? The two or three young white boys behind them have to work like mad to catch what they miss because they are running their damn mouth or are in the bathroom, or their foot, back, shoulder, head, etc....hurts that mornin' and they are 'moving a bit slow today'.

Even having to pay $5 more per hour would be worth it in Canada where you dont have to dance around the little Al Sharpton's on your shop floor, dont have to kowtow to their RIDICULOUS demands for a civil rights commission proteceting their goldbricker-asses and demands for white-glove treatment all the freakin' time. The health insurance that another poster mentioned is also an issue. Many of these folks (SUPRISE!!!!) are overweight, and go out on surgeries ALL THE PHUCKIN' TIME. Ive seen them literally be willing to get cut (thats what they call it) on a shoulder thats fine just because they'd like the time off and would like to visit the Carribean, etc.

I do however want to stress, before I go, that 80-90% (and probably closer to 90) are good employees and a good 20% subset in the 80-90% are really GREAT employees. So its not fair to have to move jobs because of the hardcore 5% of Al Sharpton's on your floor. We just need to fix our laws to where companies can identify and fire slackers. My corproration is attempting (even when its literally a paper-waste-generating-pain-in-the-ass-red-tape-producer) to quotaize about every single production point of ANY kind, no matter how remedial, so we get a feedback on exactly how productive each and every employee was on whatever task. It takes alot of on-floor barcode scanners and computers to do this, but in a few years...............its gonna be hard to drag your feet at our place. We will still have huge legal costs when we fire one, however, thats a guarantee.

It is easy to say that you love some group and think that they are good, but if you insult your opponents simply by saying that they belong to that group, it's pretty obvious that you believe that belonging to that group is somehow a bad thing.
