A hero is an insect in this world

I don't know if I am not just in the joke, but the more I listen to the song "Land of Confusion" by Genesis, the more I begin to suspect that this song is actually a longing paean to fascism. I know that the band has otherwise managed to display its liberal credentials, for example in the song "Both Sides Of The Story", but even so, I can't help but hear certain sarcasm in the songs "Illegal Alien" and "Another Day in Paradise". In the latter song, the euphemism "Probably been moved on from every place ’cos she didn’t fit in there" is so utterly cheesy that I can't imagine even the most lofty lefty actually using it seriously.

Ah well. Now that work is starting again next week, and my better half is out with her mother visiting a friend and helping her to set up her MP3 player (SonicStage, say no more), I guess that I'll spend this Friday night casually sipping scotch and watching Beavis and Butt-Head videos on YouTube, since no television channel around here ever seems to repeat them. Especially the Great Cornholio videos just never seem to get old. It wasn't so many years ago when we just had to wait until the show began and hope that the episode is some good one that we haven't seen for a while. But now I can just click and choose whatever I want, whenever I want. What an age of miracles we live in.

Have you watched the Penn and Teller : Bullshit! episodes? Many of them are available at google video.

No rigor in their act really but they sure make a lot of noise, and nothing more fun than to watch crazy people including liberals (Is it a certifiable condition?) bump around in their confusion.

Have you seen the video for "Land of Confusion"? It's a long mocking tirade against Ronald Reagan.

I do not know much about Genesis, but in the late 70´s treehugger hippies actually accused progressive rock band Rush [1] of fascist lyrics [2] [3]. As they (progressive people) say "personal is political".
